Sex and the City fame Kim Cattrall has joined Hulu’s upcoming How I Met Your Mother spin-off series, How I Met Your Father. If the reports are to be believed, she will play the future self of Hilary Duff’s character, who is narrating the whole story to her son. This will be like Josh Radnor and Bob Saget in How I Met Your Mother.

HIMYM, the American sitcom which ran from 2005 to 2014 revolves around the central character Ted Mosby (played by Josh), and his friends’ group. As a frame tale, in the year 2030, Ted narrates his son and daughter about the events that lead him to meet their mother. Created by Craig Thomas and Carter Bays for CBS, the series is known for its unique style, humour and structure, and was very popular throughout its run.

Fans were elated since the announcement of the spin-off series on Hulu. Starring Hilary Duff, it will be a 10-episode series helmed by Pam Fryman, who has directed 196 episodes out of 208 of the original.

According to Deadline’s report, Golden Globe winner Cattrall will be handling a major portion of the story and will take back everyone to 2021, when she had a close group of friends. The actress who is famous for movies like The Undiscovered Country, and Police Academy, has won several nominations and awards for her portrayal of Samantha Jones in HBO’s Sex and the City.

She was last seen on the small screen including the Fox series Filthy Rich and the Swedish series Modus. She will also be seen next in the movie About My Father, which is inspired by the life of stand-up comedian Sebastian Maniscalco.
