Shaadistan’s Leheriyera features Kirti Kulhari in a fusion avatar

The second track from Kirti Kulhari’s Shaadistan, which is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on June 11, includes folk vocals intertwined with contemporary beats and is sure to get you grooving.

The track titled Leheriyera is rendered by Isheeta Chakrvarty, Swaroop Khan, Ajay Jayanthi and Apurv Dogra with lyrics written by Nakul Sharma, Sahil Bhatia, Jayanthi and Kunal Singh Chauhan. Kirti rocks a fusion attire in the visuals, sporting a denim jacket over a traditional lehenga with oxidised jewellery. The band can be seen performing the song on stage for a wedding party in a village.

Shaadistan tells the story of a young girl who is obliged to fulfil her parents’ wish, while she wants to live life on her own terms. She meets a free-spirited singer Sasha (Kirti) and her band on her way to Rajasthan and they help her gain confidence. The film also stars Kay Kay Menon and Niveditha Bhattacharya.

Talking about her character in the film, Kirti told PTI, “To me, Sasha represents freedom, which is misunderstood by people in terms of freedom to do this or to do sex or whatever. When you say freedom, it means choosing your own life and how you want to live your life and who you want to be. Sasha doesn’t seek validation for anything in her life.”

Kirti was last seen in the Parineeti Chopra-starrer The Girl on the Train as Inspector Dalbir Kaur Bagga.
