Shaakuntalam box office collection: The Samantha Ruth Prabhu-starrer struggling on Day 2

Samantha gave everything to Shaakuntalam, her latest release which was out on the 14th of this month. The release date, promotions, and hype, everything was perfectly set for Samantha to score a big hit. But sadly, the film opened to poor reviews all over the country. Shaakuntalam made only four and half crores on day one which is quite less for even Samantha's standards.

The second day has been even more disappointing as the period drama only made 1.5 crores India wide. In the northern belts, the film is a washout and has been out of several theaters already. Back in Telugu states, Dil Raju played a gamble by having early premieres of the film a day in advance. Sadly, a lot of negative feedback has come out and gave the film a flop talk.

The response to the film in the Telugu states on day two is quite bad as the occupancy has fallen down like a pack of cards. Samantha has done so well but as the film's narration and visuals are so old school, not many are attempting this film on the big screen and are waiting for the OTT release which will happen in May as per the update.

Even in the US, Shaakuntalam is struggling and the distributors will see losses. Dev Mohan played the main lead and him being a new face in Telugu did not help matters much. Gunasekhar has produced and directed this film and Dil Raju took care of the release and promotions. Mani Sharma scored the music for this film.
