Shaakuntalam on Amazon Prime: Trolling continues on social media for the Samantha starrer

Shaakuntalam is one film on which Samantha Ruth Prabhu pinned a lot of hope. But the film flopped at the box office and left the makers, Dil Raju and Gunasekhar in massive losses. The makers advanced the OTT release and now the period drama is streaming on Amazon Prime from the 12th of this month. But the response from the audience has not changed one bit.

All those who have not seen the film in the theaters have now caught the film on Amazon Prime. The general opinion is how can Samantha approve such a weak script. The aspect which is being trolled the most is the VFX part. One of the viewers comments "Short films have better graphics than Shaakuntalam". The other one says "Dil Raju's prediction has gone for a toss. How could he see profits in Shaakuntalam?".

Shaakuntalam was also made in 3D and got a big thumbs down from the audience. One of the Twitter users says "20 mins into the movie...I can feel the pain already Skip #Shaakuntalam". Shaakuntalam has been made on a budget of sixty crores and did not even collect 15 crores worldwide which is a bad sign for the makers. Dil Raju has lost over 19 crores with this movie.

Dev Mohan played the lead role in this film and Ilayaraja scored the music. The manner in which Samantha promoted the film was also controversial. More than the film, she spoke about her personal issues. But all this did not help the film one bit as Shaakuntalam bombed at the box office. Now that it has come out on OTT, the reception is no different.
