From an epic drama to a mass entertainer and a cop saga to a dose of action, thrills, Telugu viewers can have it all this weekend. As many as five Telugu films are releasing on OTT across multiple platforms while another three of them scheduled to hit theatres. Here are the latest Telugu releases you can’t afford to miss on OTT and in theatres.

Theatrical releases - April 14

Shaakuntalam

An epic drama based on Kalidasa’s Abhijnana Shakuntalam, the film stars Samantha, Dev Mohan, Mohan Babu, Madhoo, Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Gauthami, Ananya Nagalla and Aditi Balan in key roles. The film, produced by Neelima Guna and Dil Raju, has music by Mani Sharma, cinematography by Sekhar V Joseph.

Vidudhala Part 1

Vidhudhala Part 1, dubbed version of Vetri Maaran’s Vidudhalai, starring Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, has music by Ilaiyaraaja and is distributed by Allu Aravind’s Geetha Arts. The story unfolds through the lens of an underdog cop, treated shabbily by his superiors who make him do odd jobs at work. The police force plans to catch hold of Perumal, the leader of a separatist group People’s Army.

Rudhrudu

Another dubbed release of the Tamil film Rudhrudu, this entertainer stars Raghava Lawrence, Sarath Kumar and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead roles. Directed and produced by Kathiresan, the film has music by GV Prakash Kumar and background score by Sam CS. RD Rajasekar cranks the camera and Anthony is the editor.

OTT releases:

Das Ka Dhamki (aha)

The story is centred on Krishna Das, an orphan who works as a waiter in a plush hotel and leads a content life with his friends despite his mounting financial woes. He poses as a rich industrialist to Keerthi, his customers at a hotel. However, when he tries every trick in the book to woo Keerthi, Das is entangled in a deeper mess. Stars (and also directed by) Vishwak Sen, Nivetha Pethuraj.

Ottu (aha)

The Telugu dubbed version of the Malayalam/Tamil gangster drama by the same name, Ottu stars Kunchako Boban, Eesha Rebba, Arvind Swamy, Jackie Shroff, Aadukalam Naren, Jins Baskar. The film is directed by Fellini T P and produced by Niranjan Pansari.

Asalu (ETV Win)

The tale revolves around the murder of a professor named Chakravarthy in an independent house. Ravi Babu plays an investigative cop who is out to find the culprit and look at the case from several dimensions. The officer has four suspects to deal with, and every time, he feels he’s come closer to finding answers, there’s a new twist to the tale. Also stars Purnaa, Satya Krishnan and Surya, directed by Uday and Suresh.

O Kala (Disney+ Hotstar)

This is a romance drama starring Gourish Yeleti, Roshni Sahota and Prachi Thacker in the lead roles. The film is written and directed by Deepak Kolipaka. Navya Mahesh M, Aditya Reddy and Ranjith Kumar Kodali bankrolled the film under Eternity Entertainment and Aham Asmi Films. It revolves around the highs and lows in the relationship of a young couple.

Kabzaa (Amazon Prime Video)

Arkeshwara (Upendra), an air force officer, is forced to take to a life of violence, following a tragedy in the family. Directed by R Chandru, the film, dubbed from the Kannada original with the same title, also stars Shriya Saran, Sudeep, Shiv Rajkumar, Murali Sharma, Nawab Shah, Posani Krishna Murali and has music by Ravi Basrur, with cinematography by Arjun Shetty.
