Arbaaz Khan criticised Shah Rukh Khan's hosting skills, saying that the superstar couldn't bring warmth and honesty to television. According to the actor-director, SRK failed to accomplish with Kaun Banega Crorepati what megastar Amitabh Bachchan had been able to do with great success. The third season of the well-known game show was hosted by Shah Rukh. Nonetheless, the season's ratings fell when the senior actor was out.

In an interview with the Free Press Journal, Arbaaz was asked about his most recent talk show, The Invincibles, and if he had started hosting talk shows again. The actor then responded by saying that he believes that because of the type of person he is, talking comes easily to him. He could have been perceived as being quite amiable and a natural host. As people couldn't see his personal side when he played roles, his cinematic image was significantly different. Salman Khan's movie career got a boost from Dus Ka Dum, and Amitabh Bachchan's got a boost from Kaun Banega Crorepati after they both appeared on these reality shows. Only attitude matters and Shah Rukh Khan failed to succeed.

Arbaaz explained why he didn't like Shah Rukh by saying that you can't be "false" on TV, where Amitabh Bachchan did well but Shah Rukh didn't. The Dabangg 2 director thinks the superstar failed to bring niceness and sincerity to TV. He thinks that SRK must have seemed fake to viewers. There were two individuals, and at the end of the day, either one has to be extremely intelligent like Bachchan or one can't be false in front of the television. Arbaaz added that Shah Rukh couldn't do it since he doesn't understand his audience.

In season four, Amitabh Bachchan hosted KBC once again, and he has since been the show's icon. The fourteenth season of KBC aired on Sony TV in 2017.
