Shah Rukh Khan is grounded, says Debopriyo Mukherjee after working with him in an ad film

Tollywood actor Debopriyo Mukherjee worked in a Hindi commercial with Shah Rukh Khan. After the shooting, he kept mum for one year. He was not to reveal the news before the telecast. Now, the permission came from the makers and Debopriyo shared the good news. 

In an interview, Debopriyo explained that he got a call in 2022 from a casting company in Mumbai. He was asked to give an audition to work with SRK for an online gaming app. Debopriyo told Anandabazar Online, “Frankly, I was not that hopeful. I gave the audition though. Then one day I suddenly heard that I was selected.” Debopriyo said that he worked previously with Hemanta Bhandary, the director of the ad film. He said, “Perhaps Sir liked my work and hence selected me.”

He further added that the confirmation call came at midnight. the casting director said, “Many congratulations. You have been selected.” Debopriyo said he could not sleep that night. He initially thought that someone pranked him. But he received the flight tickets and hotel bookings the next morning and then started to believe it.

The ad shows SRK’s conversation with a struggling actor from Mumbai. There are six ads with six different stories and Debopriyo is in one of them. He had a rehearsal on the first day and shot for around four hours the next day. Debopriyo said, “The director introduced me to him as a Kolkata actor Debu. I was numb. I was surprised to see SRK shaking hands with me and saying, ‘Debu, I am Shah Rukh Khan’. He spoke so smoothly and cordially, as if I could not recognise him had he not introduced himself.'

The young actor also said that he got help from SRK whenever he faced any problem. “Such a superstar, but he gave me suggestions and matched the timing. It was unthinkable.” What did he learn after working with Shah Rukh? Derbopriyo replied, “Many things. The bigger a man becomes, the more grounded they are. I felt that seeing him.” 

However, Debopriyo had one regret. 'I requested, but SRK's security team did not permit anyone in the unit to take selfies with him.' However, he said that working with SRK would be a milestone in his career.
