Shah Rukh Khan might have reached Hollywood with his Met Gala red carpet debut this year, but filmmaker Anubhav Sinha recalls him as the 'middle-class' man at heart who he met ahead of filming for Ra. One. Even as Sinha is busy filming Mulk 2 starring Taapsee Pannu (original film Mulk starred Rishi Kapoor as the male lead), the filmmaker remembers Bollywood superstar as the middle-class man who has his priorities straight. Here's what the filmmaker said in his recent interview...
During his conversation with Faye D'Souza, Anubhav Sinha spoke about Shah Rukh Khan (Pardes) as the middle-class boy at heart. He recalls the superstar inviting him to his house and asking if he had eaten. "It is so strange that he continues to be a middle-class boy at heart. He's so middle-class it's not funny," the filmmaker said, explaining that it is not just about money. He further went on to recall how SRK just agreed to being middle-class while laughing it out. "He has all the money in the world," Sinha said, adding that brands do not make the Bollywood actor happy, but the fact that his sister is happy makes him happier.
Anubhav Sinha and Shah Rukh Khan tried to introduce sci-fi to Bollywood with their movie, Ra. One. Unfortunately, the movie, also starring The Final Call actor Arjun Rampal as the antagonist, failed to connect with the viewers and ended up being a Box Office disaster. The movie's failure deeply affected Sinha, who confessed, "It was a heartbreak, which I carried in my heart, chest, and shoulders until 2018, when ‘Mulk’ released. I’d almost given up on myself as a director. I’d decided I won’t direct. I wrote Mulk in the next three days. I went out in the market, money took a bit of time," Sinha recalled. Now, Mulk sequel is in the works.
Mulk sequel has gone on floors and the shooting for the film is on with Saand Ki Aankh actor Taapsee Pannu. The movie is being shot in a church in Bandra, that has been transformed into a courtroom for two weeks. The film would then move to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Most scenes would be shot in Lucknow, Karnal and Meerut. We hear that the movie could wrap up in less than a month, but the big question still is, who has replaced Rishi Kapoor? Meanwhile, Taapsee Pannu would move on to Haseen Dillruba 3 shooting after wrapping up Mulk 2.
