Shah Rukh Khan’s King to feature either Deepika Padukone or Kareena Kapoor Khan in a cameo? Here's everything we know so far

The curiosity surrounding Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming projects is always at its peak among fans. So, when he delivered three back-to-back films in 2023 after a five-year hiatus, excitement soared about his future lineup. While 2024 saw no releases from him, the buzz around his next project, King, remains strong. The film, starring Suhana Khan alongside him, was initially being developed by Sujoy Ghosh, a filmmaker renowned for his suspense-driven narratives. However, while Ghosh remains the writer, the directorial reins were reportedly handed over to Siddharth Anand. Now, as per a new report, the makers are planning to bring a Bollywood leading lady on board for a special cameo in the film.

Kareena Kapoor Khan or Deepika Padukone to Make a Cameo in King?

You read that right! King Khan and his team are busy shaping King, which has already faced a few setbacks in recent times. As production inches closer to commencement, word has it that SRK wants to expand the film's star power with a high-profile cameo. According to a News18 report, the makers are currently debating between Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor Khan for this much-anticipated appearance. While there is no official confirmation, the team is eager to bring either Deepika or Kareena on board for a special cameo, which is expected to be crucial to the film. However, no details have emerged regarding who might ultimately secure the role. Both actresses, known for their stellar performances, have a long-standing association with Shah Rukh Khan. Deepika made her Bollywood debut alongside SRK in Om Shanti Om and later starred with him in Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Pathaan, and Jawan. Kareena, on the other hand, has shared the screen with him in films like Aśoka, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Don, and more.

Shah Rukh Khan on King

Apart from Shah Rukh and Suhana Khan, King also stars Abhay Verma of Munjya fame. During the Locarno Film Festival, SRK spoke about the film, saying, "It is an action drama, it’s a Hindi film. It’ll be interesting. I’ve been wanting to do a film like this for some time, and I really wanted to do a film like this for seven, eight years. We just felt Sujoy would be the right choice because we wanted it to be very emotionally correct. We are all coming together to make a cool, massy, action-packed emotional film."

Later, at an event in Abu Dhabi, he added, "I will be shooting it for a couple of months. My director, Siddharth Anand, is very strict. He made Pathaan as well. He has asked me not to reveal what we are doing. I can’t tell you, but I can assure you that it will be entertaining. You will enjoy it." As of now, King does not have a confirmed release date. Other than the involvement of Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana, most details about the film are yet to be officially confirmed by the makers.
