Shah Rukh Khan’s King rolls without him; Suhana Khan begins shoot with Abhay Verma

Official production of the highly anticipated action drama King has begun, featuring Shah Rukh Khan as the lead and Suhana Khan making her big-screen debut. Although filming was supposed to start on May 16, there was a little holdup. The shooting has already started at the Mehboob Studios in Mumbai, while SRK is currently absent.

Abhay Verma joins Suhana Khan in the film

Rumour has it that Abhay Verma (Safed) and Suhana have joined forces for the new film, which will be directed by Sidharth Anand. Verma is famous for his performance in the 2024 horror comedy Munjya. One of the earliest scenes to be cut from the film seems to have been the one with the newcomers.

A source informed Mid Day that some scheduling changes have happened, even though Abhay was to join around June-July at first.

This is the first feature film appearance by Shah Rukh (Deewana and Karan Arjun) and daughter Suhana together; they previously appeared in an ad together, directed by the superstar's older son Aryan Khan. Zoya Akhtar's 2022 Netflix film The Archies was Suhana's acting debut.

Action sequences filmed with Shah Rukh Khan's body double

Several action scenes, including ones featuring Shah Rukh's body duplicate, have allegedly been taped by the production team before the superstar even starts filming. The shoot has been heavily guarded to avoid any illicit photographs or leaks.

According to another source, they have already shot several of the scenes with Shah Rukh's body double. The producers have taken extreme precautions to prevent any leaks from their Bandra set.

Power-packed ensemble cast

Returning to the creative partnership that brought them great success in Pathaan, Deepika Padukone reunites with Shah Rukh Khan and Sidharth Anand for this film. King reportedly has Abhishek Bachchan as the antagonist and Rani Mukerji as Suhana's on-screen mother. Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat (The Broken News), and Anil Kapoor are among the other popular actors in the cast.

With the production by Marflix Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment, King is set to be released in theatres in 2026 and is marketed as an action-heavy spectacle.
