Shah Rukh Khan had once asked Karan Johar to never set foot on a basketball court. This was back on the sets of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, where SRK’s character Rahul would often play basketball with Kajol’s Anjali. Karan explained the story behind one of his viral vintage photos on sets with SRK.

Karan posted an Instagram story in which he shared why Shah Rukh Khan asked him to never set foot on a basketball court again. In this photo, Karan holds a basketball and look at SRK. The two share an intense look and now the filmmaker cleared why.

KJo pretended to know about basketball when in reality, he didn’t. Accepting it, he revealed that back in the 90s, while filming Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, he would call the shot (when the basketball slides through the basket) a ‘goal’ (a term often used in football, not basketball). Eventually, SRK took over and thus, asked KJo not to enter foot on a basketball court again. Hilarious, right?

Dharma Productions has been sharing stills from Karan Johar’s directorial films for a special reason. The filmmaker completes 25 years in the industry in 2023. Interestingly, he also makes his directorial comeback this year with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The filmmaker will be celebrating his birthday on May 25 and thus, the campaign, 25on25.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai marked Karan’s debut as a director. He then went on to work on various films and collaborated with SRK on his next three films, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and My Name Is Khan.

Karan then launched three new faces in Bollywood in 2012 through Student of the Year. The industry was introduced to Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. The filmmaker’s last directorial film was in 2016. He worked with Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan in the movie, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
