It's 30 incredible years of Shah Rukh Khan in the film industry and to mark the same on Saturday, the actor treated his fans with the first look mostion poster of his upcoming release Pathaan. He also hosted a live session on Instagram, answering their questions. The Raees actor, who has ruled Bollywood as the King of romance, said that he feels he's too old to do romantic films now, in response to one of the fans' questions.
Shah Rukh was talking about the kind of characters that he really wanted to play and mentioned that he had a great time while doing Aanad L Rai's Zero since it was different from his previous films. He went on to say that he is too old to do romantic films and explained why he feels it is awkward at times to romance younger actresses. "I remember many years ago I was working in a film and the lady opposite me was way younger than me and it was awkward to do a romantic scene with her. I was a little shy but then you are an actor, so you have to act."
SRK further said that maybe his popular romantic characters like Rahul and Raj are now more suited for the younger generation of actors, adding that he feels it's the greatest gift for an actor to be recognized by the names of his characters (You'd be living under a rock if you haven't heard of 'Rahul..Naam toh suna hoga').
Shah Rukh Khan has often been questioned about working with actresses younger than him. During one of his earlier interactions with AIB for their podcast, Shah Rukh had mentioned that he's often accused of "working with actresses half his age". Reacting to the same, he had then shared that it actually isn't his fault as the only actresses that are working these days are the ones that are younger than him.
"I'm the only hero, who's whenever I'm working with a young girl because there are only young girls working now, I'm really sorry, I mean I can't go and tell them ki grow up. So if Alia (Bhatt) comes to me and says 'Can I do a film?' (I can't say) 'No! First grow up'. That would be kind of personal. So I don't say anything."
SRK had further said in the same interaction that suddenly everyone starts pointing out that he's working with girls half his age. "But they're working so I can't send them back home or break their heart or tell the director, 'Nahi yaar, umar dekh ke liya karo. Talent ko chhodo.' So, I have to work with whatever is offered to me." He'd even wondered back then, "Because I play a lover, am I not supposed to age?"
Meanwhile, on the work front, apart from Pathaan, Shah Rukh will also be seen in Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki and Atlee directorial titled Jawaan. The actor also has cameo appearances in Ranbir Kapoor's Brahmastra and Salman Khan's Tiger 3.
