The 71st National Film Awards ceremony was recently held on September 23. The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, honoured the winners, including Shah Rukh Khan, who won his first National Award for the Jawan movie. Many fans have said that SRK should have given the award way earlier for his more critically acclaimed films. Now, recently, King Khan opened up about the same.

Shah Rukh Khan turned 60 on November 2, 2025 and celebrated the special day with his fans at a grand event in Mumbai. During the event, he spoke about the various topics, including finally receiving his first national award this year. He said, "10–15 years ago, I used to sometimes feel bad when I didn’t get an award, because I felt that I gave my best in every performance."

Highlighting how creative work should be acknowledged, the King actor said that he works very hard, but sometimes he has felt bad when his efforts weren’t recognised. "Honestly, creative work needs validation, because there’s no other way to measure it. In theatre, when we acted, people applauding gave us that validation," Khan said.

Expressing his happiness over winning the prestigious award for the Atlee movie, Jawan, SRK said, "I am extremely grateful to those who made this choice. My friend Ashutosh Gowariker was on the committee. Ironically, even for his own film (Swades), he probably felt I deserved it.”

Shah Rukh Khan is all set to be seen in Siddharth Anand's King. The first look was unveiled on his birthday, and it became viral on social media in no time. The teaser showed Shah Rukh in a dark, menacing avatar, with silver hair, a bloody face and signs of chaos beyond.

 He was holding a King of Hearts card in his hand and said, “Kitne khoon kiye ye yaad nahi. Ache log they ya bure kabhi pucha nahi. Bas unki aankhon me ehsas dekha, ye unki aakhri saans hai. Aur main uski wajah. Hazaar jurm, 100 deshon me badnam, duniya ne diya, sirf ek hi naam. Darr nahi deh shat hoon."
