Mannat, Shah Rukh Khan's Mumbai house, is now a popular destination for tourists. The superstar and his family have lived in the famous bungalow for almost 25 years; it is located across from the famous Bandra Bandstand and attracts hundreds of selfie-seeking fans daily. Subsequently, the Khans will vacate their residence and reside in an apartment complex. The stately bungalow is undergoing a massive restoration, which is the cause.
According to HT's sources, renovations at Mannat will start in May 2025. This encompasses Shah Rukh's long-planned bungalow addition, for which he sought and received judicial approval. Any structural change to Mannat, a Grade III heritage structure, requires the required authorisations. However, Shah Rukh and his family will be moving to a new location as the refurbishment is scheduled to start in a little over two months.
The whole Rukh family—wife Gauri, son Aryan, daughter Suhana, and son AbRam—is moving into a four-story luxury apartment complex in the Pali Hill neighbourhood of Bandra. Shah Rukh has reportedly rented these floors from filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani, according to HT. Jackky Bhagnani, the actor son of Bhagnani, and Deepshika Deshmukh, the daughter of Bhagnani and a co-owner of Puja Casa, have entered into a leave and license arrangement with Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment.
According to insiders, the four stories will serve as residences for the Khan family, as well as offices, security detail, and personnel. Someone informed the daily that, while it may not be as spacious as Mannat, there is more than enough room for his security detail and other employees. The four stories allegedly cost him ₹24 lakh monthly in rent.
Rumour has it that Shah Rukh and his entourage are making every effort to secure the apartment block so that he and his family can feel completely protected and private. Per a report by the Business Standard, the actor has taken out two duplex apartments spread across the building's first, second, seventh, and eighth floors. A three-year lease has been agreed upon for the flats. It is not known whether the Khan family intends to remain for that long, but according to reports, the renovations in Mannat might take as long as two years.
