Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, and Deepika Padukone's leading performance in Pathaan was a huge godsend for Bollywood during these difficult times. The movie not only had the largest opening weekend in Hindi film history, but it also broke the 1000 crore mark worldwide.
However, not everyone knows that Pathaan will also mark a historic moment for the cinema lovers in Kashmir. The film will be the first one to be screened in the newly opened theatres in Baramulla and Handwara, two towns in north Kashmir that had not seen a movie hall for over three decades.
Following Inox's September 20 opening of Srinagar's first multiplex, things got better the previous year. On September 18, 2022, at the same time, the districts of Pulwama and Shopian received the opening of Multipurpose Cinema Halls by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. These halls are managed by a firm by the name of Jadooz.
Manoj Sinha opened two additional multipurpose cinema halls yesterday, July 14, one in Baramulla and one in Handwara. These recently opened cinemas will likewise be operated by Jadooz and have a cafe, conference rooms, and seminar facilities, same like the theatres in Pulwama and Shopian. Reports state that each theatre has 100 seats.
According to a source close to Bollywood Hungama, Pathaan will be the first film to be screened in the newly opened theatres in Baramulla and Handwara. The source said that Shah Rukh Khan had a special connection with Kashmir, as he had shot some portions of his films like Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Dil Se there. He said that Shah Rukh Khan was aware of the situation in Kashmir and wanted to spread happiness and joy through his film.
Pathaan is produced by Yash Raj Films.
