As per the latest reports, there are "probable threats" to Shah Rukh Khan; thus, the Maharashtra government has increased his security to Y-plus level. The success of his films Pathaan and Jawan has apparently angered certain people, and the police in Mumbai have received information that the superstar has received murder threats.

Upgrade from two constables to Y-Plus protection:

Those who are considered to be in high danger have Y-plus security, which consists of six personal security officers (PSO) working in three shifts around the clock and five armed guards stationed at their home. After threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Shah Rukh and Salman Khan both received Y-plus protection. Stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Anupam Kher get three personal security officers (PSOs) on call for them around the clock thanks to their X security cover. Previously, SRK's security team consisted of merely two police constables.

As per The Times of India, the Jawan star now has Y-plus level protection. There were only two police constables protecting Shah Rukh's home before, but now there would be six personal security personnel on duty for him in three shifts around the clock, along with five armed guards.

State Home Department's letter on Shah Rukh Khan's security:

On October 5, the state home department sent a letter to senior police officers and departments, including the Anti-Terrorism Squad, saying, in view of the recent imminent and probable threat to Shah Rukh Khan, all unit commanders are requested to provide Y+ with an escort scale of security on a payment basis with immediate effect, till the next high-level committee recommendation and review committee decision during his visit or engagements, and stay in your jurisdiction to avoid any untoward incident.

The review committee members, who annually evaluate the perceived threat to celebrities and provide police protection in accordance with that assessment, have been busy keeping an eye on the law and order situation during the festival season, according to a top police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity to the leading daily.

Celebrities responsible for security costs

According to the updated police protection policy implemented by the Maharashtra government in 2017, protection is granted to private individuals who face an actual risk to their physical safety. Private protectees, such as celebrities, must pay a fee or deposit a bank guarantee before the Mumbai Police will provide them with protection. Police protection for Shah Rukh is reportedly on the line, and sources told the leading daily that he'll have to foot the bill until the review committee makes a decision.
