Dubbed a ‘stylised relentless action-packed ride’, Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming actioner Bloody Daddy is set to release on Jio Cinema, on June 9. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film is an official adaptation of the 2011 French film Nuit Blanche. The actor - who recently made his OTT debut with Raj & DK’s crime thriller Farzi, alongside Vijay Sethupathi, on Amazon Prime Video - admitted that he had “a lot of fun doing an action film”. This project also marks Shahid’s first collaboration with the filmmaker, who is known for movies like Tiger Zinda Hai, Sultan and Bharat.

While speaking at the grand ‘Infinite Together’ event of Jio Studios, where over 100 films and shows were announced, Shahid said the shoot for the film went on for around 50 days, some of it even during the pandemic, and that his experience as a dancer also helped him ace action in Bloody Daddy.

Shahid is known for his dancing skills. So, when actor Riteish Deshmukh asked him on stage about the similarities between ‘great dancing’ and ‘great action’, Shahid was prompt to respond to that by saying “There’s only one difference, actually, blood. Everything else is pretty much the same. Of course, there is a lot of choreography involved with dance. And because I started dancing when I was 15, I can memorise things really fast. And that helped us because, unfortunately, when we did this film, during the Covid-19 pandemic. We had a lot of issues and the action directors were not from here. Some of them were from London, some others from Hollywood, and they used to do a lot of rehearsals.”

Adding to that, the actor said, “The action directors for Bloody Daddy also had to face a lot of visa issues etc., etc. Then when they finally came in, they thought it’s going to be a disaster. It could have been a bloody mess. But yeah, because I’ve done a lot of dancing, I could pick it up really fast. So that helped us. But that’s it. I mean, other than that, you’re pretty much losing, like, about a kg a day when you’re doing action. So it’s really tough. At least that’s what happens with me. I just start to lose weight and then you have to look really puffed.”

Speaking about his overall experience of working on the Ali Abbas Zafar action drama, Shahid said, “It was a lot of fun. I actually had a great time doing an action film. I really enjoyed working with Ali. He really understands this genre very, very well. And yeah, the dilemma now is that if you’re doing something of this scale on OTT, what do you do on the big screen? So, now we have to figure that part out. But it’s been a blast. Yeah, it’s been a complete blast.”
