Shahid Kapoor will be seen doing hardcore action sequences in the upcoming film Bloody Daddy. At the trailer launch event, he explained why it is important to understand the audience that is constantly evolving post-COVID-19 pandemic and how what constitutes family viewing content has changed.

Bloody Daddy is quite dark and has drugs, violence, bloodshed, and high-octane action. So, does Shahid feel that releasing Bloody Daddy on an OTT platform was better to avoid the excessive censorship that an otherwise theatrical release would have?

Shahid said, "When Kabir Singh was released, it got an 'A' certificate, and many people said that it would not do well at the box office because it is not a family film. People still went to theatres and watched the film, and it became one of the biggest successes of my career. So, I think we should think fresh and tell ourselves that we do not know anything because the audience is evolving. What we knew and the way we were making films were relevant earlier. I think we should ask the audience what they want to watch instead of deciding on their behalf. I think it is time to re-learn, become students again, and be open to the fact that even though we have experience, we do not know everything."

The actor also pointed out the changing nature of content consumption post-pandemic.

"I think if you put out well-made content and place it in the right way, it will find an audience. After the release of Farzi, the entire team and I received a lot of love. I watched every reel, video review, comment, and message and realised that everyone will say what they want about the content we are putting out and that there is no way we can hide. So, I feel that a good film is a good film, and a bad film is a bad film. Everybody steps into the viewing experience with a certain expectation. As makers, we either meet expectations or not, and in certain fortunate occasions, we exceed expectations, and that is pretty much all that it is," Shahid signed off.

Bloody Daddy is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, produced by Jio Studios, and also stars Ronit Roy, Sanjay Kapoor, Rajeev Khandelwal, Diana Penty, and Zeishan Quadri. It will be available to stream on Jio Cinema starting June 9.
