Shahid Kapoor recently admitted that he was unhappy with his performance in Padmaavat. The actor who played Maharawal Ratan Singh revealed that he was "uptight" throughout filming and would welcome another shot to provide a more relaxed performance.
In 2018, Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed the film Padmaavat, which is about bravery and selflessness. It's a eulogy for a Rajput queen who chose death over submission to a despotic ruler's lustful demands. Deepika Padukone plays the lead role, with Shahid and Ranveer Singh playing her husband Ratan Singh and Alauddin Khilji, respectively. The movie did quite well at the box office when it first came out.
According to a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, when asked to identify a part he'd like to portray again but do differently, Shahid said playing Maharawal Ratan Singh. He admitted that he did not like himself. He was anxious and did not fully express that identity since he was preoccupied with one thought. The actor honestly claimed that he didn't care for himself very much, even if others did.
Shahid has said in the past that he was made to feel like an alien on the Padmaavat set. In an interview with DNA, he said that he used to be the favourite of all his filmmakers. The actor had never experienced such a profound sense of alienation before. It can be difficult to integrate into a team that has already established rapport with one another.
Meanwhile, Shahid has been appearing in the web series Farzi with Raashi Khanna and Vijay Sethupathi as of late. His subsequent film, Bloody Daddy, is an action thriller from Ali Abbas Zafar. The film also features Sanjay Kapoor, Ronit Roy, and Diana Penty in pivotal roles. Bloody Daddy is the Hindi remake of the French film Sleepless Night. Jio Cinemas will begin streaming the film on June 9.
