Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan's viral hug at IIFA 2025 press conference made headlines for obvious reasons. Fans who have not seen them be so close anytime in public, got to witness it after more than a decade after. Although fans noticed it now, Shahid spilled that the hug was 'nothing new' and that he kept meeting Kareena at events. The two, he spilled to the media at the press conference, would greet each other with a hug quite often. Shrugging it off as 'totally normal,' Shahid said, "For us, it's nothing new. Aaj stage par mile, but hum idhar udhar milte rehte hai," he said.
Contrary to how netizens felt that Shahid was caught by surprise with the hug, the actor did not only call the hug normal but also went on to talk about how he felt in the moment. "If people felt nice, it's nice," he said about the reactions coming in for the viral moment.
Shahid and Kareena shared a hug at the IIFA 2024-25 press conference held in Jaipur. Kareena leaned in for the hug and Shahid also gave her a warm embrace. This is before Kareena went on to give her good friend Karan Johar a hug. The onlookers were taken by surprise because Shahid and Kareena shared cold vibes in public otherwise. However, the effect of the viral hug was far and wide.
The viral hug got netizens so excited that many event went ahead to demand Jab We Met 2. The original film by Imtiaz Ali featured Kareena in the role of Geet and Shahid as Aditya. Both the actors immortalized their roles and now that they are back to being cordial in public, the netizens could barely keep calm. They want Jab We Met sequel and did not shy away from revealing the same. Whether that actually will happen or not though, remains to be seen.
