Bollywood has been remaking movies from other parts of India for some time now and it has become a popular trend in recent months as well. Shahid Kapoor has already starred in two Hindi remakes recently, namely Kabir Singh and Jersey. The latest rumours suggest that the actor will be starring in a third remake, this time of the Malayalam hit movie, Mumbai Police.
According to Pinkvilla, Shahid and Siddharth Roy Kapur will star in the remake of the Malayalam movie which has Prithviraj Sukumaran playing a cop. A source also told the publication, “Shahid and Sid have been discussing several ideas over the last few months and have finally locked a subject for their collaboration. It's a tout thriller, which will be directed by Malayalam film director, Rosshan Andrrews.”
The source also added that the project is in its pre-prodcution stage and that it will begin filming soon. They also added that Shahid is trying to sort out his schedule for Siddharth and Dinesh Vijay.
There has been no official confirmation from anybody close to the project so far. The movie would mark Shahid’s third remake and the first two have received mixed reactions from the critics.
Mumbai Police, which is also helmed by Rosshan, tells the story of three police officers who also become very good friends. The movie became a success following its release for its investigative thriller elements. Apart from Prithviraj in the lead, the movie also stars Rahman, Jayasurya, Kunchan, Aparna Nair, and Deepa Vijayan in important roles.
Shahid is currently working on Bloody Daddy which also stars Kriti Sanon. Directed by Dinesh Vijay, the movie is touted to be a romantic comedy.
