Shahid on OTT - Here's how and where you can watch Rajkummar Rao's 2013 film

Hansal Mehta's film Shahid has finally gotten an OTT release. Eleven years after its theatrical release, the film, starring Rajkummar Rao, is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, but with a catch. The film is only available for rent on the streaming platform. For the uninitiated, Hansal Mehta's directorial was based on the life of lawyer and human rights activist Shahid Azmi. He was assassinated in 2010. In this film, Rajkummar Rao played the titular role.

Hansal Mehta shared an update about his film Shahid's OTT release on his official X account. The director mentioned that 2013 is finally out on Amazon Prime Video. However, the filmmaker wondered why the film was on rent, as the version that was theatrically released is already available somewhere.

"Finally Shahid on PrimeVideoIN. The version that was released theatrically is available somewhere. Wonder why on rent! (sic)," his tweet read. Having said that, you can watch the film by paying a certain amount on Prime Video.

Rajkummar Rao on winning the National Award for Shahid

For those who are unaware, Rajkummar Rao won a National Award for his 2013 film Shahid. Earlier, in an interview with The Telegraph, Rajkummar said, "I know it sounds very cliched, but I wasn’t expecting this at all. I knew the awards were due to be announced, but I just went about my work as usual, although my heart was pumping a lot faster than usual! (Laughs) I was shooting in Bombay for Dolly Ki Doli and I got a call from my director-friend Suparn Verma that I had won."

Shahid's star cast and release date

While Rajkummar Rao played the lead role in Hansal Mehta's film, the star cast of Shahid also included Tigmanshu Dhulia, Kay Kay Menon, Prabhleen Sandhu and Prabal Panjabi. The film was collectively produced by Anurag Kashyap, Sunil Bohra, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala. The movie had a theatrical release in India on October 18, 2013.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Rajkummar will next be seen in Srikanth, which will be released on May 10.
