There could be a bit of added pressure on you, if you shared a name with one of India’s biggest celebrities. This is surely the case for cricketer Shahrukh Khan, who has been bought by Punjab Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League auction.
With the aggressive batsman being poached away by Punjab Kings for Rs 9 Crore, social media and fans were making use of the identical name to the best use. In an added twist, the official Twitter handle of Punjab Kings also shared a GIF of Shah Rukh Khan from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and wrote, “This one’s for you @shahrukh_35”.
Punjab Kings also used a photo of Allu Arjun as Pushpa Raj from Pushpa: The Rise. The photo of where Allu Arjun utters his catchphrase, “Main jhukega nahi”. Allu Arjun’s pan-Indian blockbuster is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
Having won the bidding battle against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders for Khan, Punjab Kings also bought Shikhar Dhawan, (8.25 Crore), Kagiso Rabada (9.25 Crore), Jonny Bairstow (6.75 Crore), and Rahul Chahar (5.25 Crore) among others.
The IPL auction, which has now entered the second and final day, is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
The IPL auction, which can often be attended by some glamourous stars, was missing out on Priety Zinta, who usually is present at the IPL auctions representing Punjab Kings.
On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan's children Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan were present at the first day of the auction, filling in for their father at the Kolkata Knight Riders table.
