Shakunthalam trailer: Samantha set for another memorable performance

Samantha is doing back-to-back female-oriented scripts and one of them is Gunasekhar's Shaakuntalam. The film has been in the making for a long time and finally, the makers released its trailer today at a special event. Dressed in white, Samantha made heads turn at the trailer launch event in Hyderabad and spoke at length about how tough it was for her to shoot a mythological drama.

The film goes back in time and deals with the real-life story of Shakunthala. Samantha plays the title role and she is the abandoned child of Vishwamitra and Menaka. The trailer showcases her falling in love with prince Dushyant (Dev Mohan) and he abandons her after she gets pregnant. All this is shown in an endearing manner in the promo.

The visuals are filled with VFX shots and director Gunasekhar has made sure that the visuals are colorful. Legendary actor Mohan Babu is shown in a slightly negative role of a rishi and the other supporting cast is new. Samantha has dubbed her own voice for this film which will be out on the 17th of February.

She is seen as this princess in distress but the best part of the trailer is the end shot where Allu Arjun's daughter, Arha is seen giving the trailer a new high. The costume drama will also have a simultaneous release in the south and Hindi as well. Shakuntala is produced by Neelima Guna under the Gunaa Team Works. The film will be out in 2D and 3D formats.
