Shamshera OTT release date: Where to watch Ranbir Kapoor-Sanjay Dutt's film after its theatrical run

Marking the end of the long wait for Ranbir Kapoor fans, Shamshera finally hit the silver screens on Friday. The film definitely had fans stoked to catch Ranbir in action on the big screen, after a gap of more than three years. Although many would try their best to flock to theatres to witness the actor in all his glory, it’s natural that some fans would be unable to do so for a number of reasons. But fret not, as the highly awaited period film has locked in a streaming partner, where it will have its digital release post its theatrical run.

The streaming rights of Shamshera have been bagged by Amazon Prime Video and the film will stream on the platform after completing its box office run. An OTT release date for the film is yet to be announced.

Set in the 1800s, Shamshera will see Ranbir essay a dual role, as a hero who challenges the oppressive British regime in the country. The actor’s last theatrical release was in the form of the 2018 film Sanju. The actor essayed the role of Sanjay Dutt, who shares the screen with Ranbir in Shamshera as well. Sanjay plays the antagonist Shuddh Singh in Shamshera. In addition to Ranbir and Sanjay, Vaani Kapoor stars as the film’s female lead. Ashutosh Rana and Ronit Roy also essay prominent roles in the film. The film was bankrolled under the banner of Yash Raj Films.

Karan Malhotra directed the film, which marked his third directorial after Agneepath(2012) and Brothers(2015). The film also marks Karan’s recent collaboration with Sanjay, who had starred in Agneepath. Neelesh Misra and Khila Bisht have penned Shamshera’s script, while Piyush Mishra has written the dialogues. Mithoon has composed the film’s soundtrack.

Shamshera is now playing in theatres. The film can be watched in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
