Shamshera: Sanjay Dutt on what to expect from his character Shuddh Singh in the Ranbir Kapoor led film

Sanjay Dutt, who recently had movie fans around the country on the edge of their seats with his role as Adheera in KGF: Chapter 2, is set to do it all over again with his performance in Shamshera, starring Ranbir Kapoor. The actor has now opened up about his character, Shuddh Singh, in the movie, stating that he is both scary and lovely. 

Talking to IndiaToday.in, Sanjay said that Shamshera is an out-and-out commercial movie and that he had been waiting to do a movie like this. "Karan (Malhotra) always picks some wacky looks for me. He works a lot on his characters. Even in Agneepath, he had a certain look for me that was much loved. In this (Shamshera) film, my character is scary, but at the same time, pyaara bhi hain (he is loving)," he added. 

The actor further added that when director Karan Malhotra approached him with the role, he agreed to it right away and that he had learned to trust him so much that he did not want to listen to the details of his character. 

Sanjay and director Karan have previously worked together in the 2012 action drama Agneepath. In the movie, led by Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay played Kancha Cheena, a larger-than-life antagonist in the movie. 

Shamshera, which is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, is a period action drama set in the late 1800’s. The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor and he plays the roles of a father and son. Apart from Sanjay and Ranbir, the movie also features Vaani Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Saurabh Shukla, and Ronit Roy in important roles. 

The movie, which is also set to be released in Tamil and Telugu, will hit theatres around the country on July 22. Shamshera is a Yash Raj Films production.
