Sanjay Dutt has been grabbing eyeballs of cinema fans from around the country with his recent roles. The actor, who impressed playing Adheera, the main antagonist in KGF: Chapter 2, is set to essay another larger than life villain in the Ranbir Kapoor starrer, Shamshera. The actor has now opened up about working on the period movie.
As reported by Pinkvilla, the actor said, “It is also quite interesting that I’m pitted against Ranbir, who played me in Sanju. So, the on-screen enmity between him and me becomes all the more interesting for people.”
Calling Ranbir a “brilliant actor”, Dutt said that the movie will see him in a new light and that his boyish charm is inimitable. He added that Ranbir looks glorious on screen.
Talking about director Karan Malhotra, the actor said that he has always created bigger than life characters and knows how to present an antagonist. He also stated that the director has not left commercial cinema behind and he hopes that Shamshera becomes yet another winner.
Dutt has previously worked with Malhotra in the 2012 action drama Agneepath. Dutt played the main villain Kancha Cheena in the movie, which stars Hrithik Roshan in the lead role.
Shamshera is set in the 1800’s where a warrior tribe is imprisoned by a general and Ranbir plays a warrior who stands up for his people. The movie also features Vaani Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana and Ronit Roy in important roles.
The movie’s official trailer is set to be released on June 24. Bankrolled by Yash Raj Films, the movie is set to hit theatres on July 22.
