Upcoming Tamil film Murungakkai Chips - directed by debutant director Srijar - will go directly to OTT, skipping its theatrical release. The makers of the film are yet to officially announce the release, but sources close to the production houses have confirmed that the film will soon be available on online streaming platforms. The major reason for this decision is the prevailing uncertainty regarding when theatres will be able to accommodate audiences.

Murungakkai Chips stars Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, who was recently seen in Vijay’s Master, and Athulya Ravi in the lead roles. This will be the first film in which the duo will be sharing screen space together. The movie is bankrolled by Ravindar Chandrasekharan under the banner of Libra Productions.

Another romantic melody titled Edho Solla - penned by the producer of the movie Ravinder Chandrasekharan himself and sung by Sid Sriram - has also become popular online, garnering more than 4 million views within a couple of weeks of its release. The song was released by popular filmmaker Atlee.
