Postponed from its earlier December 10, 2021 release plan, there’d been no word from the makers for a while about a revised date.

Avatara Purusha Part 1 will hit theatres on May 6. A little while ago, the makers of the film, producer Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah and director Suni revealed that they’d zeroed in on the date to release the film, which was earlier earmarked for a December 10, 2021 theatrical outing. The film, which is lead actor Sharan’s first release in just over two years has been split into two parts, with Avatara Purusha part 1: Ashtadigbandhana Mandalaka releasing on May 6. Speaking to us earlier, Sharan had said the team would look at bringing part 2 – Trishanku - also to theatres within three months of the first, but there’s been no official confirmation on that yet.
Late last year, the team seemed quite confident about releasing Part 1 in December, even though it would have been only weeks after director Suni’s film with Ganesh, Sakath (which released on November 26). In fact, they’d even had a pre-release press meet
Avatara Purusha is a film co-written by director Suni, which also stars Ashika Ranganath, Sai Kumar, Sudha Rani, Srinagara Kitty, Balaji Manohar, Ashutosh Rana and Sadhu Kokila, among others. This will be Sharan’s second collaboration with Ashika, with whom he had done Raambo 2 earlier, but a first with Suni and producer Pushkara.
As per the teaser, it appears that Sharan plays a junior cine artiste who gets called in to pretend to be a family's long-lost son. Reports suggest that despite all the sub-plots, including some with magic, Avatara Purusha is a romantic comedy at heart.
“Avatara Purusha will, no doubt, have my trademark comedy, but it will be interwoven in a story that will be novel for audiences. My motto has always been to present a fresh narrative, while highlighting my strengths as an actor,” Sharan had said earlier, adding, “This is a film that is close to my heart, because the excitement that I had when I got the narration, not only stayed on at every stage of its making, but grew by the day. The credit for that goes to the team of Avatara Purusha.”
