On his birthday today, Kannada actor Sharan had a special announcement; he’s going to collaborate with filmmaker Aravind Kuplikar, best known for the critically-acclaimed Puksatte Lifeu Pursotte Illa. Today’s announcement is the culmination of a journey that began over a year and half ago, wrote Aravind in a social media post. In keeping with Sharan’s image of doing films with comedy as its backdrop, Aravind’s film will also have humour. However, the filmmaker clarified that it would be a dark comedy, in which Sharan plays an electrician.

While the story is fictional, Aravind adds that a real-life incident that occurred some time ago in Bagalkot will be a part of the narrative. Sharan will be paired with Amrutha Iyengar in the film, which is a first for both of them. Also on the cast are Achyuth Kumar and Rangayana Raghu, among others. The film, which will go on floors on February 20, will have music by Arjun Janya and Advaita Gurumurthy handling cinematography. More details will be revealed by the team closer to the start of filming.

Meanwhile, Sharan, who was last seen in his home production Guru Shishyaru, in which he played a PT master, will next be seen in the horror comedy Choo Mantar. Directed by Navaneeth, who made Karva earlier, the film has Sharan as a new-age ghost hunter and is likely to be released in April. As for the actor’s much-awaited Avatara Purusha part 2 – Trishanku, there is no word on when it can be expected. When the first instalment, Avatara Purusha part 1 – Ashtadigbandhana Mandalakka came out, director Suni and Sharan had done an Instagram live and promised that the next instalment would be in theatres by Dasara (October) that year. Around that time, news emerged that the production hosue had run into financial difficulties and that Avatara Purusha 2 would be delayed. Suni has since moved on and made a film with Dushyanth and Ashika Ranganath called Gatha Vaibhava and announced another with Vinay Rajkumar. So, the wait for Avatara Purusha 2 continues.
