Shark Tank India: Ashneer Grover annoyed about memes, Anupam Mittal compares show to Amitabh Bachchan's KBC

The Indian version of the business reality show, Shark Tank is coming to an end. The show has gained a lot of popularity for the concept and pitches on TV and has also become a subject to several viral memes. As the show approaches its finale, the investors or 'sharks' Ashneer Grover, Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, Ghazal Alagh, Namita Thapar, and Peyush Bansal shared their reactions about the hilarious memes that have been doing rounds on social media. These memes are mostly about the reactions of these judges to the business pitches made by various entrepreneurs. 

Ashneer Grover, who is known for being frustrated with the pitches on the shows and his blunt responses to them, is annoyed with the people who are making these memes. Talking about the memes on the show Shark Tank India, he said, "Log gazab velle hain, talent toh hai, par itna time bhi hai logon ke pass." His reaction has gone viral on the internet like the memes and the audience seems to be rolling with laughter. Ashneer is, however, fascinated by the editing skills of these content creators. He spoke about the edit that one of them had done, showing his face on Deepika Padukone's body. He said, "I never thought in my wildest imagination that my face will be put on Deepika Padukone’s face. I told the Sony TV team that some people should be hired in the editing team, they have done such good editing.” 

Shark Ghazal Alagh seems to be enjoying the memes and is amazed to see how people create so much content with just one dialogue on the show. One of the other investors on the show, Anupam Mittal, the founder and CEO of Shaadi.com, said that he enjoys reading the comments on these hilarious memes. He said during a press conference, “People are so funny. More than the meme, the comments on it are hilarious. I just fall off my chair reading them.” But Mittal thinks that Shark Tank is one of the most intelligent shows made in India after Kaun Banega Crorepati, the quiz show hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.

Aman Gupta, co-founder and chief marketing officer of boAt, spoke about his journey on the show with Indian Express. He said he is happy that he is able to contribute to the start-up culture but he believes there is no point doing the show if it doesn't inspire people. "When Shark Tank began, start-ups were not dinner table conversations. But now, even my father has started behaving like a shark where he is interested if someone talks to him about a new business idea,” he told the daily. He added that people should learn how to think big from Peeyush and how to have business conversations from Ashneer and if they are unable to do so, it is their problem. "Instead of learning from the expertise of sharks, if you still want to watch saas-bahu serials, then something is wrong with you. Then, you should leave this (Shark Tank) for people who have some brain,” he further added.

Shark Tank India is an official adaptation of the American show Shark Tank. Hosted by Rannvijay Singha, the business reality show is about entrepreneurs pitching their ideas and business models to the investors or 'sharks' for funding for their projects. Season one of the Indian version of the show went on air on Sony TV in December.
