Shark Tank India has undoubtedly earned a place as one of the most beloved reality shows in existence in the country today. Viewers seemed to be impressed by not only the range of unique and innovative businesses that hit the tank, but also by the tenacious spirit and inspiring stories of the entrepreneurs as well. One such entrepreneur made his way into the tank on the latest episode of the business reality show, where a personal tragedy stirred him to build an innovative product to keep children safe.

Abhishek Baheti came to Shark Tank India season two to present his company, Watchout Wearables, a unique kind of smartwatch designed especially for children. Different from normal smartwatches, Abhishek’s product worked with a sim card, and had a host of features designed so that parents could monitor the movements of their children and be alerted if the latter were in danger. The founder even had a similar device for children as well.

But what really moved the sharks was Abhishek’s inspiration behind starting the venture- losing beloved family members, including his niece, in a fire. While Vineeta Singh was moved to tears, Anupam Mittal also narrated how he had gone through a similar tragedy, losing his grandmother in a fire as well.

Although all the sharks were moved by Abhishek’s tale, and quite impressed by his product and tenacity, not all of them were on board to make a deal with him. Aman Gupta, Peyush Bansal and Namita Thapar declared themselves ‘out’, citing several reasons.

Vineeta and Anupam however, were prepared to offer the founder a deal- Rs 1 crore for 10% equity in the company and Rs 1 crore debt at 15% interest. After making a counter offer, and even consulting with his father, Abhishek finally decided to take the deal from the duo.
