On the final episode of Shark Tank India 2, the actress Parul Gulati asked for funding for her company, Nish Hair. Amit Jain, CEO of CarDekho, and she agreed to a price of Rs 1 crore for 2% equity. A particular group of internet users criticised Parul's appearance as the show was airing, saying that the Sharks should support struggling entrepreneurs and small firms rather than an established actress.
Parul Gulati responded to the trolling and addressed the charges that the show was staged in an interview with ETimes. She stated: "they are saying that it is scripted. Of course the first three lines of my pitch I wrote them." The actress claimed that simply because she responded to every question asked by the Sharks, people were insinuating that the show was pre-written.
Speaking further about the trolling, the Gulati stated that while it did disturb her for a while, in the end it was she and not the trolls who walked away with a deal for Rs 1 crore. She stated: "People also thought I was confident, actually, I was quite nervous when I started the pitch. It did irk me a little with the reaction I received. I thought, at the end of the day I took that Rs 1 cr cheque home they didn't."
Shark Tank India 2 is hosted by comedian Rahul Dua and has six shark-like judges: Anupam Mittal, Aman Gupta, Namita Thapar, Vineeta Singh, Peyush Bansal, and Amit Jain. The audience can watch the show on SonyLIV as the second season concluded on March 10.
