When Shark Tank India returned to the silver screens for its second season, the show had undergone a few stark changes compared to its debut season. In addition to the absence of Ashneer Grover, the new season also saw a change in host. While the maiden season of the show saw Rannvijay Singha as host, Rahul Dua took over hosting duties this season. Rahul recently opened up about his stint as host on the show, and whether he would invest in any of the pitches on Shark Tank India 2.

In conversation with Indian Express, Rahul opened up about how he used to watch episodes of the first season of the show along with his hostel mates when he was studying engineering. When he had auditioned for the business reality show, he had mistakenly believed that he would be co-hosting the same with Rannvijay, and had been shocked to realise he would be the sole host.

Rahul revealed that the makers had decided to get a comedian who could lighten the mood as host. Saying that he was on the ‘pitcher’s team’, Rahul said that he always tried to boost the pitchers’ confidence before their presentation. As a result, he had to revamp his comedic style accordingly.

In addition to being a host on season 1 of the show, Rannvijay was also an investor as well. When asked if Rahul was planning on making any investments himself, he said that he did not evaluate the pitches deeply, as he spent all his time and effort in trying to think up jokes and calm the pitchers down. “And most importantly, I do not have so much money that I could invest”, Rahul joked.

Watch all new episodes of Shark Tank India season 2 every Monday to Friday at 10 PM on SonyLIV and Sony Television.
