Shark Tank India 3 took an interesting turn. An eyewear brand came on the show as a pitcher and caught Peyush Bansal’s attention instantly, for obvious reasons. However, owing to turn of events, Peyush ended up telling the pitcher that he has no vision towards the brand. Meanwhile, Namita Thapar tried to outsmart Anupam Mittal during a pitch. Here’s everything that happened…
The pitchers
The Sharks, especially Peyush Bansal, were in for a surprise when an eyewear brand made it to the stage. For the uninitiated, Peyush deals in eyewear as he is the CEO and co-founder of Lenskart. Thus, he expressed most interest in the eyewear brand, Intense Focus, which focus on the design for the eyewear.
The other pitcher included Chefling, which bring readymade world gourmet in a kit. He introduced Japanese sushi and mochi, as well as enchilada and tacos, which are a popular Mexican dish, to the Sharks and won a few of them over. Ramen and Chinese hotpot were also among a few of the dishes. He began the business by borrowing Rs. 50,000 from his mother and made a sale of over Rs. 60 lakhs within three years.
The third pitcher was Millet Amma. As the name suggests, their products consisted of different types of millets. From khakra to bhakri to pasta and noodles, all of it is made out of millets.

Peyush calls pitcher out
When asked why can’t the eyewear be made in India, the pitcher said that it needs an electro-plating which is not available in India and might not even be possible within the next 10 years. When Anupam Mittal asks Peyush about the same, the latter then goes on to correct the pitcher and say that Lenskart is already making such products and invested Rs. 800 crores behind the factory, as opposed to what the pitcher is suggesting. When the pitcher said that it takes investment, Peyush hit back saying it needs a vision, which the particular pitcher lacks. “Paisa toh baad mein aata hai bhai, vision hona chahiye na,” Peyush said.
Namita vs Anupam
Namita joins hands with Azhar Iqubal and offers Rs. 40 lakhs for 20 percent equity. Anupam Mittal gives an offer by himself, which is for Rs. 40 lakhs for 15 percent equity. He adds that he wants to see the pitcher succeed. When he asked the pitcher to think if somebody will work hard when Rs. 40 lakhs are invested or Rs. 10 lakhs. Namita instantly snarled back saying that is not how things work. “Aise nahi hota hai,” she was heard saying.
Shark Tank India season 3 is available for streaming on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium. One can access the episodes from Monday to Friday at 10 pm.
