Shark Tank India 3 saw an interesting turn of events where a pitcher called Aman Gupta ‘saunf’ and ended up getting an offer from him anyway. Not just that, Aman, with other Sharks, even ended up giving them the dream deal. On hearing the pitchers’ comment though, Namita Thapar had a hilarious comeback. Here’s everything that happened…

Who were the pitchers and how did they impress the Sharks?

The pitchers were two brothers from Bengaluru who bought a chewing gum with health benefits. The Sharks were already impressed and were left even more impressed with the ask. The pitchers hoped for Rs. 5o lakhs for 5 percent equity.

Aman goes first with the deal, gets the comment in return

Aman offered a deal first. He was ready to give the pitchers their ask along with 5 percent royalty on the net sales until the money is recouped. Vineeta Singh, Ritesh Agarwal and Anupam Mittal also made their offer. Distracted by Aman’s green attire, the pitchers ended up calling him saunf (fennel seeds).

Namita Thapar’s comeback and the eventual deal

Soon after hearing the saunf comment, Namita Thapar exclaimed, “Itni mehengi saunf!” Anupam and Ritesh joined Aman on the offer. Thus, the offer was revised to 10 percent equity with the 5 percent royalty. Vineeta went solo for the initial offer of 5 percent equity with 5 percent royalty. Impressed with the pitchers trying to learn about royalty from Anupam Mittal, she joined in for the offer. The four of them – Anupam, Ritesh, Aman and Vineeta put forth the offer of Rs. 80 lakhs for 10 percent equity and 4 percent royalty. The deal was thus closed. Interestingly, Aman went to the pitchers with the cheque and they once again mocked him saying, “Saunf uth ke aa raha hai.”
