In a recent episode of Shark Tank India, Shark Aman Gupta (boaT co-founder) got irked owing to a pitcher. During the episode, Aman asked the pitchers if they came on the show to waste everybody’s time. He couldn’t understand why the pitchers, a jewellery brand, behaved the way they did. Aman even warned them of not being serious in their business.
What exactly happened?
The pitchers rejected Aman’s offer. This irked the Shark, who thought they do not take their business seriously and are on the show to waste everybody’s time. “Aap aaye kyun hamaara time kharab karne ke liye? I’m out. You gave such a wonderful pitch, you told your stories so beautifully. You said you wanted to learn, to grow. Now, I’ll stop trusting entrepreneurs when they come on the show. There has to be some seriousness in the way you’re running your business, sorry,” the Shark said.
Who else backed out?
The pitchers asked for Rs. 8 lakhs and 1 percent equity for their product. Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com founder and CEO) was the first to back out saying he isn’t sure if they would be able to grow their business in the coming years. Namita Thapar (Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals) also backed out. Aman made the offer with Amit Jain (CarDekho CEO and co-founder). The two kept their conditions and the pitchers rejected the offer. That is what irked Aman.

Apart from Aman, Amit, Anupam and Namita, Shark Tank India sees Peyush Bansal (Lenskart founder and CEO), Vineeta Singh (Sugar Cosmetics CEO), Ritesh Agarwal (OYO founder), Azhar Iqubal (CEO and co-founder of inShorts), Radhika Gupta (Edelweiss Capital CEO) and Ronnie Screwvala (film producer, RSVP CEO). Aman, Amit, Anupam, Namita, Peyush and Vineeta are associated with the show since its first season. The only Shark not associated with the show since the season is Ashneer Grover.
