Before Namita Thapar came into the wider public eye as a formidable part of Shark Tank India, she was already established as a force to be reckoned with in the business world. She currently acts as the executive director of Indian pharmaceutical multinational corporation, Emcure Pharmaceuticals.

Born in 1977 in Pune, Maharashtra, Thapar has degrees in chartered accounting as well as business from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and the Fuqua School of Business respectively.

She has worked with the US company Guidant Corporation, which manufactures medical equipment and products for almost six years after which she joined her current company Emcure Pharmaceuticals, which is headquartered in her hometown of Pune, as its CFO. She now acts as the company’s executive director.

Additionally, Thapar is also the founder of Incredible Ventures Ltd, a start-up that seeks to provide guidance for budding entrepreneurs who seek to start a business of their own. Thapar also serves as a member on the regional advisory board of her alma mater, Fuqua School of Business and a member of the Young Presidents Organisation.

Thapar has also extensively lent her expertise on various government projects as well, including the Digital Health Task Force, Champions of Change and NITI Aayog’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Platform.

She also has her own Youtube channel called Uncondition Yourself with Namita Thapar, which addresses a wide range of topics related to physical and mental wellness, as well as women’s health, featuring several experts on the subjects. 

Through the course of her ventures, Thapar has earned several accolades to her name, such as The Economic Times’ 40 Under Forty award, Barclays NextGen Leader Award and The Economic Times Women Ahead. She lives in Pune with her husband, Vikas Thapar, and their two sons.
