Vineeta Singh, a Shark Tank India judge and the CEO of a premium cosmetic firm, recently appeared on Chetan Bhagat's show and discussed how she learned to embrace criticism. The judge stated that people often insult her appearance but fail to recognise her accomplishments.
She also mentioned how trolling has provided her with the ability to grow as a person. She added, according to Pinkvilla "It has been super eye-opening and I am very lucky for that as there is little evolution."
Vineeta further stated that everything she posts on her social media accounts is met with disdain since netizens solely remark on her appearance. She went on to say, "Unfortunately, this is a thing. Your appearance, as a woman, is given so much importance. Even on Instagram, I’ve achieved so much in life, but when I post something, 95% of the comments are about the way I look. It’s one of those things. It’s a by-product of being a girl."
She also mentioned how, despite being the CEO of a firm, she believes people still say things like, "You don't look good enough" or "You started a makeup company because you look bad." Vineeta went on to add that these kinds of comments disappoint her since she has worked very hard, persevered, and sacrificed to get to where she is now. She also mentioned, "But now also, the way you look is very important, especially for a woman. Men can get away with thoda sa."
However, the entrepreneur stated that Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg both donned the same t-shirt and no one reacted or questioned it. She concluded by stating how important this is to people in India.
Vineeta appeared on Shark Tank India as a judge alongside Anupam Mittal, Ashneer Grover, Namita Thapar, Ghazal Alagh, Aman Gupta, and Peyush Bansal. Shark Tank India is scheduled to return for a second season following the huge success of the previous season.
