Shark Tank India’s stage witnessed some impassioned pitches made by entrepreneurs who believed that their business ideas had what it takes to get an investment from the sharks. And the sharks themselves had moments when they were overtaken by their zeal in response to pitches, which led to some heated moments on the show. Namita Thapar and Aman Gupta opened up about how the sharks cooled down when such moments happened.
During their conversation with Rohan Joshi, Tanmay Bhat and Sahil Shah, Namita and Aman talked about the times things got heated in the tank. Namita said that the sharks did have their share of ‘powwows’ backstage after some of the more intense pitches. But the sharks had always managed to shake those feelings off by looking at the big picture, realising that in the end, they were all friends having a good time.
The Emcure Pharmaceuticals CEO also gave the example of a particular pitch where things got heated. When Jayanti Bhattacharya pitched her company, India Hemp and Co., she made a comment in response to Ashneer Grover’s statements which were not well received by Peyush Bansal, Aman, Ashneer and Anupam Mittal. When the four sharks criticised her for what she said, Namita defended herself saying that Jayanti had the right to speak and ask questions. The businesswoman said that during that moments she felt as if it was her vs the four other sharks.
But she said even that was forgotten about 15 minutes later, when the sharks went backstage and ate food and the conversation quickly turned to what they were eating. Namita added that two things helped to cool sharks down after arguments - sugar and Aman’s jokes.
Aman also talked about how none of the ‘drama’ that happened on the stage was staged. “We are entrepreneurs and the passion comes out,” he said.
Shark Tank India can be streamed on SonyLIV.
