Shark Tank India finally returned to the silver screen with a bang this year, with yet another exciting new season where businesspersons across the country make their way to the tank hoping to nab an investment from the sharks. The sharks were at their fiery best as well. This season, the sharks seem to have a clear cut game plan when it comes to investing.

In addition to Emcure Pharmaceuticals executive director Namita Thapar, Lenskart CEO and co-founder Peyush Bansal, Shaadi.com founder and CEO Anupam Mittal, boAt CMO and co-founder Aman Gupta, and SUGAR Cosmetics CEO and co-founder Vineeta Singh, the tank saw a new addition in the form of CarDekho Group CEO and co-founder Amit Jain. In a promo video, the sharks are seen talking about how they decide which pitches to invest in.

Almost every one of the sharks talked about how equally important the founder is in addition to their business idea. When asked about their mantra for judging a pitch, Bansal had one answer- humility of the entrepreneur. Singh revealed that she does not usually invest in a pitch or business idea, but rather in the founder. For her, the founder’s passion, persistence and their ability to get back up from a failure held the most importance.

Mittal’s T4 model included the elements of TAM( Total Addressable Market), team, timing and his ‘tiger instinct’. Thapar had an F4 model, where she gives importance to the founder, financials, foundation of the pitch and whether they’d be a good fit with her or not.

Similarly, both Gupta and Jain also had their own strategies for choosing their investments as well.
