Shark Tank India: This pitch featured as ‘most unique pitch ever’ but Ashneer Grover called it a ‘waste of time’

Of the array of innovative products and brands to hit the Shark Tank India stage, some have been unique enough to stand out from the pack and leave a lasting impression on viewers and judges alike. Most viewers would agree that the strange invention that came from Baldev Jumnani and Jayashree Jumnani is definitely one of them.

The entrepreneur couple started off their pitch by asking the sharks what their ‘fantasies’ were. Then Baldev went on to explain that his personal fantasy was a ‘round, deep and beautiful’ looking navel, and introduced his product - a bellybutton shaper called Navel Fukai.

As soon as the entrepreneur revealed his product, Aman Gupta and Ashneer Grover were left in splits, hiding behind their writing pads to cover their laughing faces. Although amused, Vineeta Singh, Anupam Mittal and Namita Thapar maintained their composure as Baldev continued with his pitch, even bringing a model in to demonstrate how the product can be used. Baldev even gave Namita a surprise when he revealed that he had previously worked for her company, Emcure. Namita is the executive director of the company.

But despite their amusement, from a business perspective, the sharks realised that the product was not for them, despite Baldev’s report of the number of units he had sold.

While the four sharks opted out of Baldev’s deal civilly, Ashneer resorted to his ‘brutal honesty’ yet again. Calling it a ‘gimmicky’ product, he said that Baldev had wasted both their time and his, telling him that the best decision for him would be to stop selling the product.
