The recently aired Shark Tank India finale saw one of the most special pitches the show had all season. The episode saw one of the sharks Peyush Bansal take the stage to pitch his idea, turning the clock back to 2010. Bansal put a pitch forward on his flagship company, which went on to become one of the biggest eyewear retailers in the country - Lenskart.

Bansal’s pitch gave viewers a peek into the businessman’s incredible journey since Bansal started Lenskart along with Amit Chaudhary and Sumeet Kapahi, and shared photographs from over a decade ago. Bansal’s impassioned pitch oozed with conviction, his vision supported by some important statistics and numbers, which necessitated the need for his venture, talking about the numerous visually-impaired Indians who do not have a pair spectacles even when they need them. He also talked about the economics involved in the optic eyewear industry, calling Lenskart not a company but a ‘vision’. He ended his pitch with an ask for Rs 1 crore for a 1% stake in his company.

What followed was as delightful as Bansal’s pitch, with the rest of the sharks questioning various aspects of Bansal’s ‘vision’, and fighting amongst themselves for a deal. They even pulled the businessman’s leg a little with jokes and witticisms. In the end, Aman Gupta managed to secure a ‘deal’ with Bansal for 5%, with the pair sealing the deal with a warm hug.

The other sharks featured on the show include Vineeta Singh, Ghazal Alagh, Ashneer Grover, Anupam Mittal and Namita Thapar. The show is hosted by Rannvijay Singha.

Shark Tank India is available to stream on SonyLIV.
