Ashneer Grover became a household name across the country following the release of the first season of Shark Tank India. One of the shark on the show, Ashneer was always in the limelight, mostly for his attitude and comments. The former MD and co-founder at BharatPe recently opened up about how he tried to get Salman Khan to be the brand ambassador of his brand.

Talking at an event in a private college as reported by The Indian Express, Grover said that he wanted to get Khan to work with his brand in 2019 to try and build trust overnight, but nobody could have thought of it because they were a small company.

Ashneer then revealed that when he approached Salman’s team, they asked for a payment of Rs. 7.5 crore which was too much for him considering that he would have to spend around Rs. 20 crore in total expenses for the ad. Asheneer added that he only had Rs. 100 crore in his account at the time to grow his business and so he asked Salman to reduce his pay.

“At one point his manager asked me, ‘Sir have you come to buy vegetables? How much will you negotiate?’, to which I said, ‘I don’t have the money to give’),” Ashneer recalled, after stating that Salman eventually agreed to reduce his pay to Rs. 4.5 crore.

Ashneer Grover, who is associated with Grofers (now Blinkit) and was the co-founder of BharatPe, is one of the most popular sharks at Shark Tank India, thanks to his often fiery attitude towards the pitchers. Anupam Mittal, Aman Gupta, Ghazal Alagh, Namita Thapar, Peyush Bansal, and Vineeta Singh were the other sharks in the first season of Shark Tank India, which has been renewed for a second season. The episodes from the show’s first season is now available on Sony LIV.
