Sharmaji Namkeen, which marks the late actor Rishi Kapoor’s final outing, is getting ready for release. The dramedy, which will star the legendary actor and Juhi Chawla will release on September 4, which will mark the actor’s 69th birth anniversary.
Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020, after a prolonged battle with cancer. The actor shot parts of the movie with Juhi Chawla at the beginning of 2020. Later, actor Paresh Rawal stepped in to play his part after the veteran star’s passing.
The movie, which will see Juhi Chawla and the actor reunite after the 2016 drama Chalk n Duster, is directed by debutant Hitesh Bhatia. Co-written by Bhatia and Supratik Sen, the movie is produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Honey Trehan.
Sharmaji Namkeen is touted to be a comedy, which will have the late actor in a hilarious avatar. Talking about the film to The Indian Express, Juhi Chawla said that the script was one of the funniest and warmest she has heard and the male character was tailor-made for Rishi Kapoor.
“When it was first narrated to me, I was excited! The dialogues and moments of the entire film keep you smiling and chuckling with laughter, and Chintuji’s role was tailor-made for him,” said the actress.
The late actor has given a number of comedy roles that made the audience laugh, and his final role is expected to do the same.
