As someone with no filmi background, Kannada actor Dhananjaya is well aware of the hardships in getting into and surviving in the film industry – he’s learnt it the hard way. So, the minute he found a firm footing and established himself as a bankable actor, he decided to help others, who, like him, want their shot at making it in the industry. For this, he established Daali Pictures, a production house that not only produces films with new talent onboard, but also throws its might behind projects that deserve a date with audiences. Earlier this year, Dhananjaya had helped his friends bring Orchestra, Mysuru! to theatres, and now he’s turned his attention to another “deserving” film.

This time around, the actor is presenting debutant filmmaker Shashank Soghal’s film Daredevil Musthafa, which is a feature film length adaptation of noted litterateur Poornachandra Tejaswi’s short story of the same name. Dhananjaya, we hear, was mighty impressed by the showreel that Shashank presented, and after hearing of the filmmaker’s long quest to make the film, which included crowd-funding from a total of 60 producers, the Natararakshasa saw it prudent to give them a nudge and get it to theatres. KRG Studios is distributing the film, which is coming to theatres on May 19, shortly after the Karnataka elections, in the run-up to which, the most important piece of promotional material – the trailer – will be revealed. Daredevil Musthafa’s trailer will be launched on May 4, announced the team today.
