Yuvan Shankar Raja is one of the most celebrated musicians in Tamil cinema. He has also composed music for several Telugu films like Panjaa and Raju Bhai. However, he had never sung for a Telugu film until now. That has changed with Yuvan lending his voice to a special number in the upcoming Telugu film Shashtipoorthi, which is set to hit the screens on May 30, 2025.
What makes this even more special is that Yuvan's father, the legendary Ilayaraja, has composed the music for Shashtipoorthi. This marks the first time Yuvan has sung in his father's composition for a Telugu film, adding a unique layer of interest to the project.
The song, titled "Raathranta Rachche", has already been released by the makers. A unit member from the film revealed that it was producer Rupeysh and director Pavan Prabha who wanted Yuvan to sing for the film. They approached Ilayaraja with the request, and he agreed, bringing Yuvan on board.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad of Senapthi fame and Archana play the lead roles in the film, with Rupeysh and Aakanksha Singh in other key roles. So far, two songs from the film have been released, both of which have received a decent response. However, the makers say that the track sung by Yuvan Shankar Raja is particularly special and will be one of the film’s biggest highlights.
Written by Chaitanya Prasad, the song is sung by Yuvan Shankar Raja and Nithya Shree. It has a cool, upbeat vibe, and the lyrics enhance the song's appeal even further.
Speaking about the experience, the Sandakozhi 2 and Anjaan composer shared:
"I'm truly delighted to have sung this Telugu song under my father's music direction. It's a fun and vibrant track, and I believe you'll all enjoy it. I'm also very happy to be part of the 'Shashtipoorthi' team."
Other cast members include Tenali Shakuntala, Anand Chakrapani, Raj Thirandasu, Muralidhar Goud, Chalakii Chanti, ‘Balagam’ Sanjay, Anupama Swathi, Ruhina, Anil, K.A. Paul Ramu, Mahi Reddy, and Shweta. The film is produced under the MAA AAIE Productions banner. Stay tuned for more updates.
