Shastri actress Sauraseni Maitra: Mithun Chakraborty’s hard work put us in shame

Sauraseni Maitra has no time to respite. She started the year with a project with none other than Rakhjee Gulzar in Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Amar Boss. After that, she worked in Raj Chakraborty’s Babli with Subhashree Ganguly and Abir Chatterjee. Meanwhile, she recently worked with Mithun Chakraborty in Pathikrit Basu’s Puja film, Shastri. She played a small but important role there. 

Sauraseni’s character’s name in Shastri is Anuradha and she is a journalist. The actress took to social media and posted photos with Debashree Roy and Muthun. The last day’s last scene was Durga Puja. On that day, Mithun wore a silk blue kurta, yellow dhoti, and scarf. He had rudraksh in his hand and neck. Sauraseni wore a red salwar kameez since red is the colour of festivity!

While talking about Mithun, Sauraseni said, “The film materialised both mine and my father’s dreams.” How so? The actress revealed that her father is a diehard fan of Mithun Chakraborty and does not watch any other hero’s film. He asked his daughter to take him to the set one day. Sauraseni told this to Mithun and he promptly agreed. On that day, there were more chats than shooting on the set. Sauraseni’s father later cried in joy. He told his daughter that his entire life was spent waiting for this. Sauraseni saw the actor before and after his illness. Is there any change? Sauraseni replied in a surprised tone, ‘Change? His hard work put us in shame. He had the same level of energy before and after the illness. He did not waste a single day of the director and producer.” What about the Mithun-Debashree magic? Sauraseni said that it was still intact, evergreen since the days of Troyee. 

Sauraseni said that she was indebted to actor-cum-producer Soham Chakraborty for giving her the scope to work with Mithun and Debashree. She is also grateful to the director. The entire team was new to her, but she never felt any discomfort while working. It was only after the work was finished, they realized that the shooting ended. Sauraseni is eagerly waiting to work with Mithun again. She is now busy with her next project. When asked whether she believes in astrology, Sauraseni paused a bit and then answered, “I can’t reject it fully since it is science. But I also don’t believe that a stone can change your fortune.” She then smiled and added that the rest should be saved for the film.
