Mithun Chakraborty and Debashree Roy are back together in Pathikrit Basu’s Shastri. Produced by Soham Chakraborty, the film also features Sauraseni Maitra, Rajatava Dutta, Kaushik Sen, and others. Mithun and Debashree’s on-screen chemistry became a hit with 1982’s Troyee. Ever since they were popular on-screen in the ’80s and ’90s. In 2010, they were seen in the film Shukno Lonka. However, they were not the pair.

In Shastri, Mithun plays Parimal Sanyal — an ordinary man who suddenly gets extraordinary power to see the future. Debashree plays his wife. When the duo met for promotional interviews, they brought back their camaraderie. “You will not believe the amount of yelling and swear words she uses unless you hear her,” joked Mithun while talking to OTTplay in a recent interview. “You bring that out from me,” pat came the reply from Debashree.

“As a matter of fact, I don’t usually swear. But he pushes you that far so much so that you get exasperated and you end up swearing. He always teases while shooting. His pranks are fun and annoying. And we all enjoy it,” the actress said.

Mithun and Debashree have been family friends for years. “I spent days in her house when I used to come to Kolkata from Mumbai,” the actor said. Meanwhile, Debashree added, “We are family friends. Mithunda knows everybody in my family and I know all his family members.”

Both of them said that there have been a lot of changes in the pattern of shooting schedules from earlier times. However, their friendship helped. “If Mithunda is there at the shooting, we don’t have to worry about the fun part of the shooting,” Debashree told us.
