It has been widely reported that Mithun Chakraborty will be seen in a film from Soham Chakraborty’s production house. Directed by Pathikrit Guha, the film, Shastri, will bring back the pair of Mithun and Debashree Roy after 16 years. On Wednesday, the shooting of the film started. The poster was also dropped on the same day.
Soham has earlier produced films like Kolkatar Harry, Paka Dekha, and LSD. Shastri pans out on a bigger canvas. The producer said, “Initially, I did not have experience. I thought more about security. Later I realised that I would have to take care of the content as well as what is demanded at the box office.” That’s why he has teamed up with Surinder Films. “I should remember the people who understand big films, people who are behind my stardom. I will learn more if they are around,” said the actor-producer.
Besides Mithun and Debashree, the film also features Sauraseni Maitra, Saswata Chatterjee, Rajatava Dutta, Anirban Chakrabarti, Kaushik Sen, Kanchan Mullick, Ambarish Bhattacharya and others. Soham will also be seen as a character. “I did not want to compromise of actors. Some of the best actors in the industry will be working in the film. I understand these are the important things if one wants to grow as a producer,” said Soham. The next schedule starts on February 5.
Soham and Mithun share a very good rapport. They have worked in films together. However, Mithun is known to be selective about his films. After the success of Projapoti with Dev, he took one year to work on Siman Ghosh’s Kabuliwala. “Mithunda is affectional toward me,” said Soham, adding, “‘Bittu, I have never heard such a beautiful story in my life,’ he said. He immediately said yes to the offer.” He started preparing after that.
The film is based on Debarati Mukhopadhyay’s novel and will delve into the conflict between astrology and science.
